The Future

I am very hopeful - I can see small progressive steps - Brandonīs behaviour in some areas has started to slowly mature and develop to that of his more typical peers. With the support his is currently receiving at kindergarten, I hope this will prove to be a positive start to his schooling years. I am certain that he will do well in some areas, better than last year, but still he has learning disabilities which will reveal themselves as he commences formal schooling. At the last visit to the Paediatrician, I was told that Brandon may be in the percentage group of Autism Spectrum persons that can "spontaneously" get "better". I donīt really know what this means, I certainly donīt think anything spontaneous has happened over the past year. But I do know, it is one year now since I watched my son ready to fall off the edge of the planet into his own internal intense world. We still have "those crazy days" where the world stands still waiting for him to decide which train (his 3 year obsession) he will take outside with him, the nights where he wakes every 2 hours distressed and crying, and his total confusion at the social activities and conversation in our home ... but there are great days too!
